The members of the Hawaii chapter of AORN are going to have another opportunity
to take a "Behind the Scenes" tour of the Honolulu Zoo. Dr. Ben Okimoto, head veterinarian at the zoo, will accompany
us. Last time we spent a fascinating time in the ORs as Dr. Ben shared some of his experiences caring for his very diverse
patient population. How do you position an elephant, anesthetize a warthog, operate on a turtle through its shell, or
position an elephant for artificial insemination?
Following our tour, we will eat lunch; either bring-your-own or buy something
at the concessions.
Join us at 10:00am on Saturday, January 23. After paying the $4 entrance
fee, proceed to the stage near the banyan tree. We'll leave our brown bags there and meet Dr Ben to begin our visit.
We'll return to the stage at about noon for lunch and maybe even some more Q & A.
Hope you can make it. Please email me at ruth@arkoehl.com and let me know. We have to limit the attendance to the first 20
who respond.
